Every day, more than 10,000 people in the U.S. turn 65, making them eligible for Medicare. Medicare is the health insurance coverage for people 65 or older and/or collecting Social Security benefits. Once a person turns 65, they must enroll in a Medicare program or risk paying a penalty. Additionally, Medicare candidates can choose to have a Medicare-approved private carrier to administer Medicare coverage. This is called Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part C. Medicare Advantage covers all Medicare services, even some services not covered under traditional Medicare such as dental and vision. Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is extra insurance you can buy from a private company that helps pay your share of costs when you only have traditional Medicare. Understanding these programs can offer customers options towards a wide array of benefits and peace of mind– but only if they know about them.

Final expense insurance is a life insurance policy intended to cover final expenses and burial costs. Also known as burial insurance or funeral insurance, it’s designed for older adults who are ready to make end-of-life plans, typically age 50 and older.
